Event & Course Description:

The City Run starts/finishes at Karrawirra and follows a 5km course along the River Torrens, taking in a few iconic Adelaide-an sites. A full loop is 5km. Distances of less than 5km do a shortened loop and distances of more than 5km do multiple loops.

Course Map:

Aid Station:

There will be one aid station on the course. It is present at the start/finish of each loop and is passed approximately every 5km. The aid station has lollies (vegan and standard), water, sports drink, coke/pepsi, ginger ale, baked goods, and first aid. A runners table will be present for competitors to add their special preferences and/or a cup to reduce waste. A bag drop is available at the aid station

Bib Collection, Standard Race Briefing, & Start Location:

Bib collection is exclusively available on the day, starting 30 minutes prior to the earliest start time. The race briefing will begin 15 minutes prior to each wave’s start time.

English as a Second Language (Simplified) Race Briefing

If English isn’t your first language, you may have experience difficulties understanding the accent, speed, or event-specific words in the briefing. Don’t worry – we can help! We have an ESL expert on our team who gives a simplified race briefing. The simplified race briefing will use simpler words, slower speech, and more one-on-one contact. Even if English is your first language, but you prefer quieter race briefings with more opportunities to ask questions, this is the briefing for you! The ESL (Simplified) Race Briefing will occur at 7:30am & 8:35am for this event.

Podium

GoodRunnings endeavours to have a podium presentation within 30 minutes of the final podium placer crossing the finish line. Podium medals are available for traditional event distances and podium certificates are available for non-traditional event distances. Traditional event distances include 5km, 10km, 21.1km, 42.2km, 50km, & 60km. Non-traditional event distances include 1km, 2.5km, 7.5km, 15km, and 30km.

Only those who competed at the standard start time (and ran the prescribed course) are eligible for podium recognition. This ensures that all of those on the podium competed under the same conditions. GoodRunnings reserve the right to alter podium results for up to 72 hours after the final results are published.

Not-for-Profits & Local Causes

GoodRunnings proudly supports Women’s Safety Services SA’s NADVS (Northern Adelaide Domestic Violence Services) to help local women and children rise above domestic violence and thrive. $3 from every registration under 21.1km and $5 from every registration of 21.1km and over go towards NADVS, with a cap of $800. Additionally, we donate $1 per registrant to Guide Dogs SA / NT, in honour of Jacob Vennix.

In honour of Jacob Vennix

One of GoodRunnings’s initial and strongest supporters – Jacob Vennix – was lost to the world at the end of 2024. This event is dedicated in his honour. In addition to our typical donation to NADVS, we are also setting aside $1 from every registration for Guide Dogs SA/NT, to support a charity close to Jacob’s heart.

We will forever be sorry for your loss, Jacob. Your acts will continue to touch those long after you have departed.

Timing:

The timing of this event is ensured by chip timing and recorded by a timing mat, with a vertical antenna for back up. Additionally, video footage is recorded by two separate cameras and reviewed if there are discrepancies or questions. To help determine the segment of the footage to review, GoodRunnings may ask competitors for their estimated finish times and/or review third party records, including (but not limited to) Strava. GoodRunnings reserve the right to request a competitor’s GPS recording if it is deemed there is a valid concern about failure to follow course directions and can DQ a runner for failure to provide a GPS record under those circumstances.
